VR – Bringing another dimension to design review

At first, this immersion inside the building interior appears too real to be true. The teleportation function of the HTC Vive controllers make the experience of hopping from point a to point b pleasant even for the worst vertigo sufferers. After just a few minutes, moving about the model becomes second nature and the real work begins. Clients report getting a better feel for scale, volume and flow through the space. The working environment and the difficultly to find your way in a building is often not captured in a plan view. Having the ability to walk through the space allows for more scrutiny about vertical surfaces that may block benchmarks and other visual navigation aids. Until now, owners were provided isometric renders which most often depicted the most pretty angles of the space. This technology appears to be much more than the latest toy and is going to revolutionize the design review process for owners.
